Claims Specialist (Auto/GL)
Description
Job Summary
- The AL/GL Claims Specialist is a key member of the risk management team and has responsibility for directly investigating and settling in-house claims and oversight of Third-Party Administrator Claims. This role formulates and executes claim investigation and settlement strategies and ensures that subcontractors and third parties responsible for alleged injuries are subrogated against and respond to the claim.
Hybrid Work Schedule: 3 Days Onsite in Blue Bell / 2 Days At Home
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for self-administered Auto and GL claims - manage internal and external resources, develop claim strategies, and aggressively and affectively resolve claims.
- Coordinate with Third-Party Administrator and branches for investigation and resolution of TPA handled claims.
- Develop and manage claims through well-developed action plans; continue to work the action plan to bring the claim to an appropriate and timely resolution.
- Analyze first reports and promptly contact applicable resources.
- Effectively evaluate claim facts to provide accurate and timely investigation and loss analysis on all claims.
- Negotiate claim settlements up to designated authority level
- Use of internal and external systems for document gathering (contracts, scope of work, weather reports, etc.)
- Make claims payments
- Recognize and identify potential fraudulent claims.
- Support workload surges.
- Communicate with all appropriate parties involved with claims including field personnel.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers
- Utilize effective communication and education programs to ensure on-going field compliance with claim reporting requirements and other claims management practices, standards, and procedures
- Maintain reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
- Effectively control the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors.
- Adhere to all statutory and regulatory fair claims practices.
- Successfully contribute to the development and delivery of the Risk Management’s team goals, objectives, and results.
- Be familiar with Claims Management Systems which manages in-house claims and generate information and reports as requested.
- Perform department duties as necessary including potential ad hoc projects
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum two years of general and auto liability claims adjusting experience handling claims from inception to resolution
- Current Claims Adjuster licenses in one or more states preferred but must be willing to obtain additional state licensures.
- Knowledge of claims management and risk management principles
- Experienced adjuster with a level of claims investigation, claim valuation and settlement negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of insurance, contracts, laws, and policies related to claims management.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- An aptitude for evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting information.

Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, photocopier, and computer printer
- Position is sedentary; must be able to remain in a stationary position for a majority of time
Work Environment:
- This role operates in a hybrid office environment, requiring in-person three days per week.
