Your role as the Sr. Carbon Strategy Consultant

You will act as a key team member in providing our clients with the right data, tools, and guidance to identify sustainability solutions. An entrepreneurial, self-directed mindset and excellent communications skills are key.

Strong written and verbal communications are a requisite, as well as confidence in dealing with people at different management levels and working in a range of corporate settings. You will support and develop strategies, tools, and frameworks to address emerging areas in sustainability, build new programs, and drive strategic partnerships across the industry. You will have the opportunity to lead innovative applications of new technology to accelerate climate action.

This position is remote and can be located in most US states except for Hawaii. Some key meetings as well as occasional team mixers and other fun events will be based on Pacific Time Zone (PST). Some travel to clients and key strategy meetings should be anticipated.

 

How you’ll contribute to the team

  • Lead on strategic projects with clients to build and implement ambitious carbon removal strategies that enable them to achieve their Net Zero commitments.
  • Support clients in assessing carbon offset opportunities, including technical analysis, financial analysis (profitability, valuation of credits), and alignment with reporting standards (GRI, SBT, Climate Pledge, CDP, and others)
  • Provide technical insight when required into carbon offsetting and carbon removal project investment opportunities
  • Work with clients to scope, cost, and communicate carbon removal opportunities
  • Collaborate with clients daily, guiding processes to advance, improve and measure key sustainability initiatives and communicate progress, roadblocks, and risks as appropriate
  • Prepare or revise client communications for sustainability performance aligned to key industry reporting platforms, such as CDP, DJSI, GRI, GRESB
  • Contribute to the development of training resources for both internal and external clients
  • Generate insight and thought leadership from client engagements, and drive innovation and alignment with global sustainability trends

 

Your skills and approach

  • Management consulting experience with relevant work in sustainability strategy, program management, process improvement, or change management
  • Bachelors Degree in Sustainability or Environmental Sciences, Climate Science, Renewable Energy, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, Master’s degree in Sustainability or Sustainable Business required
  • 8+ years of related professional/consulting experience and an interest in pursuing a career in sustainability
  • Prior experience successfully designing and launching major projects, products, or business initiatives
  • Quick-twitch ability to react to client direction, changing priorities, and new deadlines
  • Ability to accept and consider new ideas and approaches, with a willingness to learn from the perspectives and guidance of others
  • Business acumen and professionalism; ability to understand and engage on business issues
  • Understands sustainability in short-term and long-term business cases and possesses the confidence to professionally challenge thinking and ideas
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to multitask within competing priorities, program schedules, and business needs
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, complex analyses and ideas in a concise manner
