BRG’s Clinical Economics (CE) practice has been an integral part of the firm’s Healthcare advisory practice. The CE practice offers extensive healthcare expertise with a focus on payment reform models, clinical quality and value-based policy and performance measurements, strategic and regulatory planning, clinical program financial modeling, regulatory compliance, clinical documentation integrity and provider education.  
 
BRG is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement and Physician Education candidate for the Managing Consultant level. This mid to senior level position will reside in the Clinical Economics practice. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with solid oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and relevant industry experience. The work will involve both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that may be either qualitative or quantitative in nature, and responsibilities include development and presentation of client deliverables, management of existing client work, as well as industry research. This position will be mostly remote, with project dependent travel. 
 
Job Responsibilities 
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and coding guidelines applicable to inpatient and outpatient care settings.
  • Provide Clinical documentation integrity training at the department level as well as provide provider education as it relates to documentation improvement and coding.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of client engagements.
  • Provide complete and accurate client deliverables and makes valuable contributions to expert reports.
  • Manage client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate.
  • Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives and office functions such as staff training and recruiting.
  • Travel is project dependent.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree, at least, with one or more of the following credentials: RN, RN/BSN; CCDS with CCS highly preferred; RHIA, RHIT; CDIP, CPC, CRC-preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive CDI and/or Coding experience.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of DRG, APC and HCC methodologies and coding guidelines.
  • Expertise with CMS hospital regulations preferred.
  • Experience working at large academic medical centers is a plus but is not required.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with providers and hospital staff in a collaborative manner.
  • Possess thorough understanding of the legal and compliance issues as they pertain to clinical documentation and coding.
  • Proficient computer skills with Electronic Record systems; EPIC, Cerner, 3M 360.
  • Proficiency in understanding and delivering education in All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Group (APR DRG’s).
  • Delivery of CDI Education to clients regarding appropriate diagnoses for capturing accurate Severity of illness, Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC’s) and Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS DRG’s) - Reviews and analyzes health records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for distinct patient encounters. 
Salary Range: $100,000 – $190,000 per year
