BRG is seeking a summer intern in Boston or NYC to join the Transaction and Valuation Opinions team. Our team is looking for students with prior internship experience in applicable business fields (Finance and Accounting) with demonstrated interest in valuation, whether through on-campus investment funds, independent learning, or professional experience.   
Our team provides valuations in support of transaction opinions, portfolio valuations, tax and financial reporting, disputes and litigation support, and strategic valuations. As a result, interns are exposed to a variety of clients and industries. Interns are involved in all steps of the valuation process including client calls, comparable company and transaction research, discounted cash flow analyses, and creating final reports and board presentations.    
 
BRG’s Valuation Expertise:    
Private Funds Valuation    
  • Provide portfolio valuation, investor reporting, GP/LP valuations and other services to various private equity and hedge funds clients  
  • Establish recurring relationships with clients providing monthly/quarterly/yearly valuations of their investments  
Transaction Opinions    
  • Provide independent transaction opinions to help companies, their boards of directors, and other stakeholders to fulfill their fiduciary duties in connection with a proposed transaction  
  • Solvency opinions include but are not limited to leveraged buyouts, refinancing, restructurings, and going private  
  • Fair opinions on the buy- or sell-side  
Disputes / Expert Testimony    
  • Expertise from our senior professionals for litigation support by providing expert opinions regarding valuation, damages and related financial analyses in complex cases  
Financial / Tax Reporting    
  • Provide valuation services to fulfill financial reporting and tax requirements for corporations, funds, and investors in the US and internationally  
Specialized / Strategic    
  • Industry-specific valuations  
  • Valuations in connection with special situations (e.g., restructurings)  
Responsibilities:  
  • Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations 
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Participate in group practice meetings and travel as needed 
  • Build and present valuation models and financial statement analyses in an organized manner and/or using our standard formats and presentations;
  • Research and analyze published financial information, such as public company filings, press releases, reports from published research analysts, and Bloomberg data across a wide range of industries and sectors to assist with valuation assignments. In addition, evaluating private company information including client investment memorandums, audited financial statements, company underwriting models, board of directors’ presentations, debt, equity, and other company-specific agreements, org charts, etc.
  • Research, identify, and assess relevant comparable public companies and M&A transactions within parameters based upon information services such as S&P Capital IQ and Bloomberg
  • Report and describe in writing the valuation methodologies utilized (Discounted Cash Flow analysis, guideline public companies, guideline precedent transactions, cost approach) and other financial modeling techniques considered.
  • Perform other ad-hoc research, analytics, and support as required including marketing initiatives for prospective and existing clients.
  • Perform a PV Case Study during a 4-5 week period. 
Qualifications       
  • Third year college students (i.e., those looking to graduate in May 2026)
  • Progression towards Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an undergraduate level understanding of economics, finance, accounting, statistics, econometrics, or other related subject 
  • 0 - 2 years of prior internship experience preferred 
  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Strong finance or accounting curriculum
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven capability with MS-Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven capability with MS Excel
  • Strong writing skills
Hourly Range: $23.08
 
Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
