Position Summary:
The Senior Learning and Development Specialist will support the design, development, and execution of firm-wide related training programs and other centrally led and supported programs to enhance employee development while ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals and values.  This is an ideal role for a candidate looking for an entrepreneurial environment in which they can lead the enhancement of the firm’s training programs in addition to developing and growing their professional skills.  This is a hybrid (in-office and remote) position based in Washington, DC. 
 
Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Contribute in efforts to define, develop and/or refine learning and development strategies, programs, curriculum, and processes for the firm. 
  • Manage the coordination and facilitation of training via in-person classes, train the trainer programing, virtual workshops/events, or other e-learning platform options. 
  • Work cross-functionally with BRG leaders to develop L&D programs and provide end to end L&D expertise. 
  • Conduct needs analysis, scoping, and consulting with stakeholders, providing design input, managing delivery, and the evaluation of L&D content. 
  • Demonstrate change management in an effort to align understanding, communicate the why, and provide the overall big picture to support firm/community/functional initiatives. 
  • Surface feedback and proactively identify ways to optimize training processes and deliverables. 
  • Create and maintain program materials (e.g., presentation decks, course outlines, job aids, handouts, etc.). 
  • Design course content in-house and/or recommend outside instructional design support, as applicable. 
  • Create and administer employee surveys in a timely manner to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and provide feedback to management. 
  • Partner with Practice/Functional Leaders to assess training needs and develop/recommend the training approach, programs, and objectives. 
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts regarding ad-hoc training needs and appropriate delivery method of content. 
  • Assist and partner within internal HR team in the design and implementation of programming to support initiatives such as performance management, recruiting, DEI, etc. 
  • In collaboration with the Legal, HR, and Internal Communications teams, support the delivery of compliance training to ensure the firm is in compliance with federal and local regulations. 
  • Manage the firm’s mentorship program. 
  • Participate in the creation of a portfolio of learning programs and training paths. 
  • Oversee Continuing Professional Education resources for employees with professional certifications. 
  • Participate in the implementation of Workday Learning. 
  • Mentor Learning & Development Coordinator. 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • 6+ years of previous experience in learning and development, e-learning, organizational development, or related role. 
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written). 
  • Experience in designing and developing instructor-led training programs. 
  • Experience at a consulting firm or other professional service-oriented company is preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively manage time and priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain rapport with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver training initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change management
  • Proven competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or similar email application).
Candidate must be based in the Washington, DC area and able to work in-office a minimum of two days per week with the flexibility to occasionally come in additional days as needed for trainings, meetings, events, etc. 
 
Candidate must be able to submit verification of their legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
