The Associate position is an entry-level consulting tax staff position. This position requires broad knowledge of federal taxation.  In addition, this position requires a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical ability and a desire to advance within the organization. The work of an Associate will largely be tax compliance, tax research and communication with taxing authorities. Projects will include, but not be limited to, analysis and compilation of financial information, tax return preparation and tax research.

This position is located in the Salt Lake City office and offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze and compile financial information, prepare federal and state income tax returns, prepare spreadsheets and perform tax research. Correspond with Federal and State taxing authorities.
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
  • Review own work product and work product of others to assure quality.
  • Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, written analyses, presentations and other client deliverables.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity
  • Participate in group practice meetings and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred. An undergraduate level understanding of accounting and taxation is required.
  • Education path that qualifies candidate to sit for the CPA exam.
  • 0 - 2 years of prior work experience preferred.
  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Proven capability with MS Excel. Experience with relational database program(s) (e.g., MS SQL Server, MS Access, MySQL, Oracle, Teradata) and an interest in forensic accounting a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize changing work demands and learn quickly

Our roles are generally in the office, however, within our Health Care Performance Improvement sub community our roles require 90% travel.
