We are seeking a Junior ServiceNow Developer to join our team supporting federal government clients. This role is ideal for an early-career technology professional who has foundational experience with the ServiceNow platform and is eager to continue developing their technical skills in a collaborative, mission-focused environment. The ideal candidate has experience with ServiceNow configuration and development, understands basic scripting concepts, and is motivated to learn and grow while contributing to high-quality solutions for federal clients.
Job Functions:
Support the development, configuration, testing, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions across modules such as ITSM, CMDB, HRSD, SPM, and custom applications.
Assist in translating business and technical requirements into effective ServiceNow configurations and solutions.
Develop and maintain ServiceNow scripts, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Policies, and UI Actions, under the guidance of senior team members.
Assist with integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and other integration methods.
Collaborate with senior developers, architects, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that support client needs.
Participate in unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to ensure reliable and high-quality solutions.
Assist with technical documentation, including development documentation, configuration details, test results, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Support ongoing platform enhancements, process automation, and system improvements by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and user experience.
Continue building ServiceNow technical knowledge and skills through hands-on experience, training, certifications, and collaboration with experienced team members.
Skills and Abilities
Foundational hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform, including configuration, development, or administration.
Familiarity with ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, SPM, CMDB, or HRSD.
Basic understanding of ServiceNow scripting, including JavaScript and concepts such as Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and UI Policies.
Ability to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into ServiceNow configurations or development tasks.
Familiarity with workflows, forms, tables, notifications, and other core ServiceNow platform functionality.
Basic understanding of integrations and APIs, including REST and/or SOAP.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working as part of a collaborative development team.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with an interest in learning new technologies and ServiceNow capabilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
Ability to work in a fast-paced federal consulting environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
Commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and following established development and documentation standards.
Education & Certifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one.
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification preferred.
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
1+ year of experience supporting the implementation, administration, configuration, or development of an ITSM platform; ServiceNow experience preferred.
1+ year of experience with ServiceNow development, configuration, or administration, including exposure to scripting, workflows, forms, business rules, client scripts, or other platform functionality.
1+ year of experience with JavaScript or another programming language; experience with HTML/CSS is a plus.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment preferred.
Experience supporting federal government clients or working with federal compliance and security requirements is a plus.
Experience creating technical or development documentation.
