General Description:

The Manager, Cost Analytics is responsible for the Cost Accounting function within the Finance/Accounting department, tracking and reporting on the Labor, Burden, and Material spending of annual operational budget, ensuring that costs and financial analysis are in accordance with the guidelines of the company, and for all day-to-day budgeting, financial planning, and analysis activities of the cost accounting function for the manufacturing organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the existing cost accounting function from management of current rates to monthly and year-end close analysis, which includes account reconciliation, review of profit and loss data, and preparation of cost accounting reports
  • Ensure that costs for the company's products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance financial accounting standards
  • Perform monthly closing activities including preparation of the COGS (cost of goods sold) statements along with supporting analysis, proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to operations management
  • Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers using ERP systemsAlso use ERP systems to analyze data and create reports and dashboards, evaluate costs and cost variances through job costing analysis, prepare material usage variance reports, perform global standard costs roll-ups, and assess impact on cost changes with supporting explanation and analysis, and analyze purchase price variances for materials
  • Gather historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.), to compare budgets with actual expensesReview profit and loss statements for all individual products, analyzing variances and changes on Gross MarginWork with Engineering and Product Development divisions on Costing Analysis on new products and developments, ensuring targets are met and costs are thoroughly added to the Bill of Material and Bill of Operations
  • Develop and implement cost estimating methodologies, statistical models, and calculations to forecast costs, estimate profitability, and improve inventory control, and perform cash flow analysis
  • Develop budget template for COGS products and work with operations on the budget process
  • Direct cost audits and their interpretations that will assist management in directing and controlling operations
  • Oversee analysis of monthly manufacturing variances, monthly gross margin reports, labor, and manufacturing overhead rates, fixed vs. variable overhead rates, labor operation hours, and breakdown of general ledger analysis and variance explanation reports
  • Prepare Bill of Materials and Methods of Manufacturing structuring, auditing, manipulation, part scheduling, and piece part cost analysis to understand all the facets of costing and the intricacies of Operations, Sub-Assemblies, Kanban, and Phantoms from a cost perspective
  • Monitor changes of Bills of Materials and monthly inventory levels and implement cycle count programs
  • Conduct studies, and submit recommendations for improving the organization's cost accounting procedures to lower production labor and burden costs, minimize inventory shortages through statistical analysis, and propose improvements on inventory safety stock/minimum on hand/cost lot sizes, and reconcile discrepancies through job costing analysis
  • Create financial models using big data and business intelligence tools for data analyzing data sets

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field required
  • Minimum 5 years of direct cost accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment required

Alternatively, BraunAbility is willing to accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field and 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate cost accounting or finance experience.
