HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

Winamac, IN

GENERAL PURPOSE:  

The primary purpose of this position is to assist with administration of the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, including but not limited to employee relations, policy and program administration, employee events, communications, metric calculation, and reporting.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports human resources processes by handling various administrative duties.
  • Help maintain HR records and information.
  • Handles unemployment protest forms and appeal hearings.
  • Coordinate & maintain discount program.
  • Assists with Time Management & HRIS system administration.
  • Assist with job transfer process.
  • Calculates & reports on workforce demographics & key performance indicators.
  • Handle employee relations activities including answering questions.
  • Assist with performance & employee investigations.
  • Employee communication preparation.
  • Administer Employee Notification System – Call Em All.
  • Assist with coordination of employee events.
  • Assist Managers & Supervisors with ongoing training – policy & procedure administration to maintain consistency & accuracy.
  • Maintains employee confidence & protects data by keeping human resource information confidential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. A combination of education and experience equal to 4 years will also be considered.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures.
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and engaging level of enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
