Director, Field Operations
Reports to: VP Project Operations - Bradley Concrete

Responsibilities:

This position leads the Superintendents and teams with Project Operations Leader to ensure field operations are planned, staffed, and executed to the highest level of performance, while also representing the field in Bradley leadership and planning meetings. It also ensures Bradley’s field operations are prepared for growth and personnel development.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides Leadership, Support and Oversight of the Superintendent Group 
  • Prepares Sr. Superintendents for their increased and elevated engagement in Company operations 
  • Holds Sr. Superintendents accountable for development of Superintendents, General Foremen, and Foremen. 
  • Establishes and manages development plans for each Sr. Superintendent 
  • Owns the safety, quality, schedule, and productivity success of each project 
  • Is an expert in and ensures consistent implementation of Bradley procedures, particularly regarding safety, quality, schedule management, and project controls 

    Project Support 

    General 
    • Oversees development and implementation of new field operations processes as wellas improvement of existing operations processes and holds others accountable for implementation of existing and new processes
    • Oversees Bradley yard operations to ensure resources are provided in sufficient quantity and good working order to support project needs

    Business Acquisition 

    • Supports and/or participates in business development and project pursuits 

    Preconstruction 

    • Performs detailed constructability reviews on major projects and pursuits 
    • Provides preconstruction services support and estimate review input to ensure proper planning and budgets are established

    Pre-Project Planning 

    • Develops execution strategies for major projects 
    • Evaluates large and complex projects in early stages to develop creative and proactive strategies to enhance productivity and profitability and to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies

    Execution

    • Provides support and guidance to Sr. Superintendents in the field execution of all of Bradley’s projects while maintaining direct reports ownership of project results 
    • Participates in key meetings on large and complex projects 
    • Regularly audits project performance via jobsite visits, and can promptly assess project status, identify need areas, and drive mitigation plans 
    • Supports the project team at all stages of construction regarding schedule compliance, risk mitigation and assistance with resolving project challenges
    • Participates in weekly team coordination and monthly WIP meetings to identify projects needing guidance / input to mitigate risks

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

    Education / Training / Experience 
    • 20+ Years of industry experience, including at least 3 years of experience in a General Superintendent or equivalent senior field leadership position
    • Proven record of leading large structural and sitework concrete projects
    • Preferred to have Northern California experience 
    • Preferred to have Union labor experience 
    • Experienced with the variety of building types and complexity necessary to support the Company’s existing projects and future growth plans, including vertical concrete structures
    • AA degree preferred 
    • OSHA 30 mandatory 
    • Multiple, large structural concrete deck project experience. Knowledgeable in multiple formwork systems.

    • Ability to build relationships with and influence internal and external groups and individuals 
    • Ability to mentor and develop direct reports and cause the development of indirect reports to facilitate career advancement of field personnel and company growth
    • Maintaining a culture that puts safety first on projects and in Company matters 
    • Identifying and developing risk mitigation plans 
    • Overseeing equipment / material yard operations simultaneously with entire field operations team. 
    • Strong conflict management skills 
    • Excellent communication and team building skills 
    • Deliver all preconstruction and construction services related to field operations 
    • Monitoring safety performance and prioritizing adjustments 
    • Working with others to develop and implement strategic initiatives and training programs to support development of field operations team and craftspeople
    • Strong industry reputation 
    • Expert scheduling experience using MS Project and/or Primavera P6software 
    • Experience using field technologies, including Procore, digital document tools, BIM implementation at field level, BlueBeam, total station 
    • Good reputation with subcontractors and others in the industry 
    • Has strong oral and written communication skills
