JOB TITLE: Tournament Traveler – Media Relations Associate
LOCATION: Tournament Site (Reno, Nevada, in 2026)
POSITION TYPE: Temporary Full-Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Media Relations Supervisor
WORK HOURS: Monday – Sunday (hours vary depending on tournament schedule), ability to work extended hours, as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY:
USBC is looking for a dedicated, service-minded individual to join our Tournament Traveler team as a Media Relations Associate. This department is responsible for chronicling the tournament through news stories on BOWL.com, providing photos and videos for social media and helping celebrate the achievements of the competitors. The Media Relations team plays a key role in highlighting the tournament across multiple platforms.
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Taking photos/videos of competitors during moments like lead changes, 300 games and milestone presentations.
- Engaging with the competitors after their achievement to collect the necessary paperwork and information, followed by an interview for BOWL.com.
- Performing both traditional and video interviews for BOWL.com.
- Collecting notes and/or writing stories of achievements for BOWL.com.
- Preparing paperwork and photos for future milestones.
- Following the competition on the concourse and through live scoring for potential lead changes or big scores.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Familiarity with bowling and the sport’s scoring system.
• Showcasing effective communication skills and having proficiency in customer service.
• Computer and communication systems literate – PC, various tournament-based computer applications, Microsoft Office and two-way radios.
• Ability to multi-task and keep track of scores across 60-plus lanes of competition.
• Ability to write a story is preferred but not necessary.
• Ability to complete tasks accurately in a distraction-filled environment.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays or special events.
• Ability to collaborate with team members across multiple departments.
• Being comfortable performing an interview and collecting notes in a detail-oriented fashion.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or continual learning education.
- Must pass USBC’s Registered Volunteer Program (RVP) background screening and adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program (RVP).
- Experience working in a fast-paced service environment.
- Must always be neat and well-groomed, as this role will have frequent contact with guests, clients and supporting staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to work in an occasionally noisy and intemperate environment.
- Must be mobile as well as sit or stand for extended periods.
TRAVEL: This position will require the employee to be on-site for the Championships, so relocation is required for up to six months at a time.
