JOB TITLE: Tournament Traveler Side Events Associate

 

LOCATION: Tournament Site (Las Vegas, NV or Reno, NV)

 

POSITION TYPE: Temporary Full-Time

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Side Events Supervisor

 

WORK HOURS: MondaySunday (hours vary depending on tournament schedule), ability to work extended hours, as needed.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

USBC is looking for dedicated, service-minded individuals to join our tournament traveler team as a Side Events Associate. Side Events team members operate the Championships’ companion events (Bowlers Journal Championships; The Forty Frame Game) and facilitate practice sessions. Side Events Associates deliver exceptional service and are vital to the Championships’ success.   

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Event sales and registration Process entries, including the collection of funds.   
  • Confirm customer data – Review of contact information, membership, average, and division.
  • Apply tournament policy – Competition Compliance Form review (average and/or roster requirements).
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and huddles, keeping tournament leadership informed of department activities and service challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 

         Familiarity with tournament bowling and bowling terminology.

         Working knowledge of lane conditioning machines, pinsetters, and automatic scoring systems.

         Intermediate understanding of handicapping and division structure.

         Superior customer service proficiencies-service-minded and engaged.

         Effective communication skills-ability to speak clearly and confidently.

         Robust interpersonal skills–team player.

         Ability to work nights and weekends, and special events.

         Focused–the ability to complete tasks accurately in a distraction-filled environment.

         Computer and communication literate - PC, multi-line phones, POS, two-way radios, and Microsoft Office.

 

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High School Diploma or continual learning education.
  • Must pass USBC’s Registered Volunteer Program (RVP) background screening and adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program (RVP).
  • Sales experience.
  • Must always be neat and well-groomed, as this role will have frequent contact with guests, clients, and supporting staff.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Must be mobile as well as stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.

 

TRAVEL: This position will require the employee to be on-site for the Championships, so relocation is required for up to 6 months at a time.
