JOB TITLE: Tournament Traveler Scale Room Associate

 

LOCATION: Tournament Site (Reno, NV)

 

POSITION TYPE: Temporary Full-Time

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Scale Room Supervisor

 

WORK HOURS: MondaySunday (hours vary depending on tournament schedule), ability to work extended hours, as needed.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

USBC is looking for dedicated, service-minded individuals to join our tournament traveler team as a Scale Room Associate. Scale Room team members are responsible for verifying that all bowling equipment complies with USBC specifications prior to competition. Using advanced measurement tools and procedures, Scale Room Associates help ensure fairness and integrity across all Championship events. Their precision and commitment to standards are fundamental to the success of the tournament experience.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Apply USBC/Tournament policy perform visual checks to ensure all equipment used for competition meets USBC specifications.
  • Provide clear and courteous communication to bowlers regarding equipment standards and inspection results.
  • Regularly participate in scheduled meetings and huddles, keeping tournament leadership informed of department activities and service challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 

         Basic knowledge of bowling ball layouts and static weights.

         Familiarity with tournament bowling and bowling terminology.

         Superior customer service proficiencies-service-minded and engaged.

         Effective communication skills-ability to speak clearly and confidently.

         Robust interpersonal skills–team player.

         Ability to work nights and weekends, and special events.

         Focused–the ability to complete tasks accurately in a distraction-filled environment.

         Computer and communication systems literate - PC, two-way radios, and phones.

  

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

         High School Diploma or continual learning education.

         Must pass USBC’s Registered Volunteer Program (RVP) background screening and adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program (RVP).

         Experience working in a fast-paced service environment.

         Must always be neat and well-groomed, as this role will have frequent contact with guests, clients, and supporting staff.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Must be mobile as well as stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift 16lbs repetitively (two-hour spans) and occasionally up to 65lbs.

 

TRAVEL: This position will require the employee to be on-site for the Championships, so relocation is required for up to 6 months at a time.
