IT Help Desk Specialist

Information Technology Meriden, Connecticut


The IT Help Desk Specialist provides support and advise to Home office, Warehouse, remote users and store associates on company supported computer applications/platforms, point of sale terminals and in-store applications.  

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone or electronically

  • Diagnose, research and resolve technical hardware and software issues

  • Document known issues and resolutions or workarounds

  • Follow standard help desk procedures

  • Assist in administering help desk software

  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention

  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates

  • Provide support for stores as part of an on-call rotation after hours

Job Requirements

Previous Work Experience:  2 years’ experience in the information technology field or in a related area preferred.  Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the information technology industry.

Education: BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a technical discipline.  Or, experience equivalent.

Computer Skills and Software:

  • Windows and Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • General Server and Personal Computer knowledge

  • Basic familiarity with the range and variety of software and systems used in the Stores and Home Office environments is a plus.


  • Work ten hour days / four days a week

    Deliver a high level customer service

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written skills

  • Successfully combine creative problem solving with thorough problem analysis

  • Demonstrate skill in gathering, processing, analyzing, and disseminating large amounts of diverse information in meaningful ways

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a fast-changing environment

 Physical Requirements: 
  • Vision, hearing, speech and typing skills
  • Must be able to lift approximately 30 lbs
