Summary 
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement of temperature-controlled food products to ensure timely, safe, and compliant delivery. This role plays a critical part in maintaining cold chain integrity, optimizing transportation efficiency, and maintaining customer service.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with TMS provider on route planning & scheduling outbound shipments. Coordinate daily and weekly transportation schedules with our 3PL warehouse partners for refrigerated and frozen goods, ensuring on-time, in temp delivery and compliance.
  • Communicate with 3PL carriers and internal fleet drivers to assign loads, track shipments, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Monitor temperature devices, ensure proper handling procedures, and respond to any deviations or equipment failures.
  • Conduct temperature-control issue analysis, identifying patterns by month, year, and carrier, identifying trends to improve carrier selection and protocols.
  • Utilize TMS, ERP and temperature monitoring software to manage outbound and incoming product and materials loads.
  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipping status, metrics, and KPIs. Implement existing technologies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or special handling instructions.
  • Address and resolve transportation issues such as delays, equipment breakdowns, or route changes in real-time. 
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in transportation or logistics, preferably in the food or cold chain industry. Experience with Transportation Management Systems and other relevant software tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP, TMS and relevant software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with refrigerated LTL and FTL shipments.
  • Familiarity with FSMA and HACCP protocols.
