Job Summary
The Commercialization Intern will assist the Commercialization team with new product launches and existing product updates by coordinating project deliverables and entering product information into controlled databases. Success in this role requires keeping timelines on track, entering product data with accuracy, effective communication with stakeholders, and following Blount policies and procedures.
In the event of an absence, position will be filled by trained personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Utilize project tracking systems by creating templates, completing project entries and monitoring tasks associated with new or revised products for assigned customers.
- Advise on and assist with non-Commercialization projects that have overlapping needs with our systems (e.g. test batch setup in X3).
- System entry of products for assigned customers including internal programs and customer portals.
- Coordinate and participate in packaging artwork design and approval including hard copy reviews and first print samples, when required.
- Coordinate a production setup check for new items and updates.
- Develop case label designs to ensure shipping compliance. This should also include formatting bag printing, when appropriate.
- Provide necessary information for first-hand production of new or revised products in a timely manner to support successful launches.
- Assist Food Safety & Quality with the completion of product specifications.
- Organize first-run or any other customer requires product samples, as needed.
- Supply and revise product volume information to the forecast team as it becomes available.
- Work with the waste team to manage the costs of discontinued products.
- Provide all team members with up-to-date information regarding assigned projects, including but not limited to R&D, Purchasing, Sales, and Production.
- Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
Responsibilities for Food Safety
- Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
- Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all Food and Employee Safety policies.
- Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
- Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.
- If monitoring CCPs (Critical Control Points), must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s).
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong math and computer skills, critical thinking, organization and attention to detail are a must to be successful in this role. Must also work well in a team environment. Packaging and/or product development experience is a plus.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license, pre-employment and annual screening of Motor Vehicle Record and personal automobile insurance coverage in accordance with the Blount Fine Foods Employee Handbook.

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and food periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence and operational procedures; able to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, and co-workers.
- Person must be proficient in basic math skills which include being able to calculate percentages, volumes, proportions, etc.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software, competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Education and/or Experience
- A Bachelor of Science from a four-year college or other bachelor’s degree with two years related experience. Example related fields: Project Management, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Business Administration.
