Summary: The Corporate Engineer provides technical leadership and guidance in the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions that support the company's operational and strategic objectives. This role partners with cross-functional teams to optimize existing processes, develop innovative process strategies, and drive continuous improvement through the application of emerging technologies. The Corporate Engineer also provides support and oversight for Electrical Systems & Controls, Refrigeration, Power Generation, and Environmental Compliance initiatives across the organization. Success in this role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to foster a culture of safety, ensure compliance with GMP and food safety regulations, and support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Providing advice/direction in primary areas of expertise:
- Lead the development, standardization, and implementation of fluid process flow systems to ensure consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing equipment, utilities and infrastructure.
- Provide technical training to manufacturing operations staff in processes, equipment, utilities, automation and operational changes where applicable.
- Collaborate on technical review and sign off on new equipment purchases.
- Develop URS and standardization of work required for equipment and construction practices.
- Assist with facility upkeep and structural maintenance as needed.
Process & Program Standardization:
- Responsible for ensuring that all engineering and maintenance processes are completely documented.
- Collaborate with maintenance on the development and implementation of effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Capital Projects:
- Contributing to and managing projects as needed
- Organize and Coordinate installation plans for contractors and vendors to ensure deliverables are met on time and within specified budgets.
- Manage a cross-functional team to execute projects in support of a business process.
- Assemble Project Charters/Quotations/Costs/timelines and capital application packs for review.
Continuous Improvement:
- Assist with continuous improvement opportunities as requested.
- Develop Quarterly Facility Process Audits and report on performance and improvement opportunities.
Experience:
- 4+ year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, 5+ years manufacturing experience preferably in a food environment, or equivalent combination education work experience.
- Strong mechanical, electrical and PLC skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as they apply to food manufacturing facilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
