 This position is fully onsite in our Fall River, MA location.

The salary range for this opportunity is $65,000-$70,000/year.

Job Summary

The Corporate Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution and supervision of transportation operations, including management of a team of Transportation Coordinators and Company Drivers. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of products through both private fleet and third-party carrier networks while maintaining exceptional customer service levels.

The Transportation Supervisor provides leadership, coaching, and operational oversight to transportation personnel, while ensuring timely pickup and delivery performance, regulatory compliance, carrier management, and continuous improvement of transportation processes. The role serves as a key liaison between Transportation, Sales, Customer Solutions, Production, Warehousing, Procurement, and external transportation partners.

Duties/Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Employee Development

  • Directly supervise Transportation Coordinators and Company Drivers.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily workloads to ensure operational coverage and service execution.
  • Conduct employee training, coaching, performance discussions, and development planning.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and transportation procedures.
  • Build and maintain a culture focused on safety, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention of transportation personnel.
  • Coordinate staffing coverage for vacations, absences, and off-hours support.

Transportation Operations Management

  • Oversee daily transportation activities including customer pick up, deliveries, inbound freight, and transfers.
  • Ensure efficient scheduling and utilization of company drivers.
  • Monitor shipment execution and proactively address service disruptions, delays, refusals, and delivery exceptions.
  • Support route planning and load optimization activities.
  • Ensure proper allocation of transportation resources based on volume requirements and service expectations.
  • Maintain visibility of all customer shipments and communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.

Carrier & Broker Management

  • Supervise coordinators responsible for carrier and broker scheduling activities.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, brokers, and transportation service providers.
  • Work with Leadership to support carrier onboarding, qualification, performance measurement, and compliance activities.
  • Review carrier performance metrics including:
  • On-Time Pickup
  • On-Time Delivery
  • Tender Acceptance
  • Claims Performance
  • Service Failures
  • Cost Performance
  • Participate in carrier business reviews and corrective action discussions when required.

Fleet & Driver Oversight

  • Supervise company drivers to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Promote compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, company safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Maintenance scheduling to ensure equipment availability and serviceability.
  • Investigate and respond to transportation incidents, accidents, and service failures.

Customer Service & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as an escalation point for transportation-related customer concerns.
  • Lead efforts to resolve delivery exceptions, late deliveries, temperature concerns, product refusals, and service issues.
  • Collaborate with Customer Solutions, Sales, Production, and Warehousing teams to minimize customer impact.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and report transportation KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Analyze transportation performance data utilizing TMS, Power BI, Excel, and related systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, network utilization, and transportation costs.
  • Assist with implementation of transportation process improvements and technology enhancements.
  • Support development and maintenance of transportation SOPs and training materials.
  • Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned. 

 

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of transportation, logistics, fleet, or supply chain experience.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and/or Microsoft Office Suite a plus.
  • Understanding of DOT, FMCSA, Hours of Service, and transportation compliance requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience supervising both drivers and transportation office personnel.
  • Experience managing refrigerated and frozen transportation operations.
