Production Director

The world could always use more heroes, and we’re looking for one to join us on the Overwatch team! We’re seeking for a Production Director who is deeply familiar with the art and science of game development and production.  More than two years after our initial product release, the game keeps growing, and our plans are limitless.  The right fit for this position should have veteran level experience with a consistent track record of strong leadership skills to guide the team forward, harness their creativity, remove any obstacles, and be able to maintain clear and constant communication with stakeholders throughout the organization. 


  • Direct game production and coordinate work across and between the Engineering, Design, Art and Audio disciplines.
  • Partner closely with the Game Director to manage all aspects of Product Development for the game and the team.
  • Work across the development team and the company to uncover, define, and remove any barriers to successful execution of the game vision, as defined by the Game Director.
  • Collaborate to define and realize the long-term franchise strategy for Overwatch as determined by the Executive Producer and team leadership.
  • Lead the production function in driving project scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, prioritization, task tracking, and problem solving to achieve results.
  • Oversee the management of day to day development issues, proactively anticipate and mitigate problems, while being prepared to troubleshoot and provide conflict resolution as needed.
  • Evangelize efficient processes and policies to team leadership and internal support organizations, with the goal of continuous, iterative improvement.
  • Partner and facilitate communication with cross-team functional groups such as, licensing, international teams, quality assurance, and customer service to deliver epic gaming experiences.
  • Build, maintain and evolve a creative environment, resolve personnel challenges, motivate developers, serve as custodian of team health, set an example of positivity and foster a culture of success.
  • Partner effectively with team leadership in forecasting, budgeting, and business model design.
  • Play an active role in hiring and recruiting.  Help prioritize hiring needs, assist in identifying high potential candidates, perform phone interviews, set onsite agendas, and participate in the final decision-making process.
  • Coach and guide the production team toward defining and achieving their career goals.
  • As part of the leadership team of one of the major franchises within Blizzard, serve as a stakeholder in studio level strategy, and provide an active voice in resolving organizational and global issues.
  • Work with international regions to ensure relevant teams understand market conditions, challenges, player behaviors and rollout strategies.


  • 5 years’ experience in directing video games
  • A minimum of 10 years of AAA production experience; shipped multiple AAA titles
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative – comfortable with ambiguity but driven to create structure and order
  • Outstanding communication, project management and relationship building skills
  • Proven ability to grow, guide, inspire and produce large development teams
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and lead multiple complex projects with various groups, such as discipline teams, creative development, marketing, legal, other development teams, human resources, etc.
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing conditions
  • Familiarity with a wide range of production methodologies and tools but considers scalability and is flexible when applying those methodologies
  • Proven ability to coach employees at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated passion for videogames; Needs to be an active Overwatch player
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience


  • Experience running a game as a service
  • First person multiplayer game development experience
  • International game or business experience
  • Strong knowledge of the game market and platforms
  • Advanced degree
