Call of Duty World League (CWL) is the official global esports league of the Call of Duty franchise. 

The Director, Global Events is a hands-on events leader who believes in the power of events to engage, promote and inform as part of larger marketing efforts. This position requires an event producer at the highest level. They possess the creativity and project management skills to conceptualize, design, pre-plan, and execute events from the intimate to the massive. You'll amaze those present and thrill the global broadcast audience.
 

You possess the ability to create and communicate a clear vision for a league event founded in disciplined communication goals and use a process-driven approach to execute the smallest details to the highest standards. From large-scale multiday competition events across the globe, to league operations meetings and player and media summits throughout the year, you will bring best-in-class event planning, production, operations, and commercialization expertise to the fore, and set a world class tone for Call of Duty esports.  

 You are a highly collaborative leader, with the abilities to empower a team, thrive in high-paced, entrepreneurial environments, and influence multiple stakeholders by skillfully gathering, analyzing, distilling, and actioning critical information.   

Responsibilities 

  • Create groundbreaking experiences with a global reach in response to highly-developed communication objectives
  • Manage all aspects of league-produced events including conceptualizing, designing, pre-planning, and full execution
  • Proactively plan with internal and external partners to allow adequate time for deliverables; provide assistance to global offices to ensure they do the same
  • Partner closely with broadcast media team ensuring events are designed for maximum viewer impact and smooth day-of execution
  • Build strong relationships and bridges across the organization and with external partners through communication and collaboration
  • Lead team to exceed expectations throughout event conceptualizing, planning, and execution
  • Evaluate event planning processes and procedures with the goal of improving quality as well as cost and time efficiencies
  • Share best practices, postmortem recaps, and actionable learnings with internal and external stakeholders year-round
  • Develop, manage, and reconcile event budgets; assist with annual departmental budget development; manage event-related contracts and invoices
  • Define, gather, evaluate, and respond to event metrics
  • Create and distribute event materials including task sheets, show flows / scripts, floor plans, production schedules and process docs to appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and vet prospective vendors; develop and carefully maintain productive business relationships with external vendors
  • Provide visibility and transparency to commissioner, league leadership and wider organization through frequent communication and reporting
  • Be a champion for strong team culture, teamwork, transparency, and positivity
  • Actively seek out and maintain knowledge of global event design and production; maintain competitive awareness of trends, practices and emerging technologies

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in event production 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in personnel management 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and execute a cohesive, brand-building slate of large-scale live events
  • Experience planning events for 1000+ attendees
  • Experience planning and coordinating event logistics with cross-functional vendor partners
  • Excellent communication skills with a service-oriented attitude 
  • Impeccable organizational and time-management abilities and attention to detail
  • Exhibits strategic thinking as well as exceptional creative, analytical, planning and forecasting skills
  • Able to maximize resources and establish key relationships 
  • Able to act with discretion when handling confidential matters 
  • Track record of event excellence, experience leading event teams to exceed targets and objectives 
  • Strong experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel 
  • Demonstrated ability to function well in a matrixed organization
  • Outstanding communications, presentation and stakeholder influencing skills
