Full Stack Developer, Tespa (Temp)

Description

Tespa is the world's largest network of college esports tournaments and campus chapter programs. We believe in a world where gaming is celebrated by people of all ages, recognized as a force for good, and a catalyst for bringing people together. Our ideal candidate is motivated, flexible, and has a good understanding of our games and the student gaming ecosystem. This is a full-time contracting position with an expected 40 hours per week of work developing server and client side applications that level up grassroots communities across the nation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with product owners for understanding the functional and system requirements
  • Propose and implement overarching system architecture
  • Design robust solutions to hard problems that consider scale, security, reliability and cost
  • Ensure the quality of newly developed code via best practices like unit testing and proper design patterns
  • Work with DevOps to improve CI/CD methodology for rapid platform deployments
  • Manage and maintain cloud-based services Level Requirements

Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience with software and platform development
  • Extremely proficient in Node.js
  • Strong understanding of SQL and database architecture
  • Comfortable with Git, Jenkins, Stash, Maven and other repository tools
  • Understanding of automated deployment tools like Cloud Formation and containerization methods like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience leading version control of core applications & internal dependencies
  • Experience building applications for scale
  • Experience deploying and debugging live production environments
  • Able to travel
  • Experience working with small teams
  • Ability to identify problems, and effectively communicate solutions to team
  • Deep software experience using open source and comfortable with Linux based systems

Pluses:

  • Experience with Typescript
  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Experience with competitive gaming, playing, organizing, or viewing
  • Exposure or experience with AWS
