Activision Blizzard Esports Leagues (ABEL) serves as the operational foundation and partnership hub for the Overwatch League and Call of Duty World League. ABEL is uniquely positioned to create long term value via commercialization of the esports portfolio through brand partnership and media rights sales. Leading the charge, the Overwatch League represents one of the first truly global esports leagues, combining the best of traditional sports and esports. Overwatch League saw great success in its inaugural season as they signed 12 world-class teams, launched compelling programming to a diverse international audience and quickly became the most commercially successful esports program in history. Similarly, the Call of Duty World League team successfully launched the Global Pro League and has continued to grow the already popular Call of Duty esports scene.

We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic manager to join our team and drive media rights sales and sponsorships/partnerships across the region. The position is based in our Shanghai office, works closely with global commercialization team and will directly report to the regional esports leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support content monetization plans and strategies around media rights sales and sponsorships in China
  • Attract industry leading media and sponsor partners in alignment with ABEL core values and reputation, aligning sales efforts with regional and global priorities
  • Create compelling business proposals, including sales materials, for specific platforms and esports initiatives
  • Provide thorough and accurate visibility on status and progress of all negotiations to stakeholders
  • Build and maintain exceptional relationships with internal teams, related stakeholders, and external partners
  • Maintain excellent post-deal services and follow up with all stakeholders; execute partner rights and benefits; monitor partner usage of Blizzard IP and overall marketing/business conduct, assist manager to timely collect partner payments
  • Assist managing relationships with media distribution partners and platforms
  • Track and meet agreed upon key performance indicators for each program
  • Support the proposal, negotiation, and contracting of renewal deals
  • Work closely with internal teams and departments to fulfill due processes and procedures, develop solutions and produce partnership deliverables
  • Remain knowledgeable of the domestic and international media rights marketplace as well as the domestic and international sponsorship marketplace and partner industries
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and potential impacts on the marketing partnership and overall business of Blizzard

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in business development or account management role
  • Established track record of successful media rights sales and/or developing sponsorship and partner rosters in China
  • Strong networking skills, and the ability to work within a diverse and fast paced international environment
  • Solid negotiating skills and ability to close deals
  • Strategic thinker with strong management and communications skills
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin
  • Able to organize thoughts and make decisions under time constraints and a full work load
  • Experience working effectively in a team environment with global team members
  • Demonstrated ability to function well in a matrixed organization
  • Able to occasionally travel, including international travel
