Tax Manager

Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC is seeking a motivated Tax Manager in our Boone, NC office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage and mentor members of Tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement
Review and manage tax engagements
Assume full responsibility for directing large engagements and special assignments
Supervise the assignment of duties to, and the training of, staff and senior accountants assigned to engagements
Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the Tax process
Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency
Demonstrate an understanding of business issues relating to complex transactions
Work and communicate effectively with clients to enhance their understanding of business and tax issues
Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to the tax team
Review and correspond with the IRS and Department of Revenue as it relates to audits and notifications.
Demonstrate an awareness of firm software packages and the ability to use such software effectively and efficiently

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree in accounting preferred
5 years of experience in preparing and reviewing individual, partnership and corporate tax returns with a familiarity of payroll tax, sales tax and general bookkeeping.
Current CPA license required
