The Blackboard legal team is focused on regularly working across internal corporate functions with sales personnel, technical and product personnel, and central corporate functions on contract matters, and on drafting and negotiating contracts. The legal team has a tremendous wealth of experience in technology contracts in the education space and maintains a solid track record of finding the right people to work with and train to be a part of the team. This position supports the drafting and sending of license and service agreements.



A successful candidate will be a bright, energetic professional with an interest in the preparation and negotiation of software license and service agreements in support of a global sales organization. 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting/generating software license agreements and professional services agreements based in system information and other input from the sales representative. Demonstrating good judgment
  • Receiving/reviewing client executed agreements and process for closing the sale pursuant to the sales cycle procedures
  • Understanding and applying contract team and company policies, operating practices, and performance standards
  • Completing client requested legal/contract related forms and other paperwork



The Candidate:
Required skills/qualifications:

  • 2+ years contract operations
  • Understanding of basic contract structure and operational process
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work well in a “team” environment
  • Desire to succeed in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Highly efficient and organized, and able to handle multiple tasks with ease and professionalism
  • Ability to be proactive, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines in a service oriented and aggressive sales driven environment
  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy
  • Proven analytical and written and oral communication skills


Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • 3+ years software and services contract management in a high-tech organization
  • SaaS experience
  • experience
  • SharePoint experience
  • DocuSign experience
  • Higher Ed or public-sector contracts experience

  • Located on OMR, the IT corridor of South Chennai

  • Office provides lunch Tuesday – Thursday and evening snacks Monday – Friday
