As an Associate Data Scientist, you will work with company executives to develop strategies, with Product Managers and Designers to create better products, with Marketing to launch better-converting campaigns, and with clients and server Software Developers to create data pipelines and improve workflow. You will work across the organization as well as closely with customers. You will collaborate with team members to develop use cases and to understand the business goals and data that will be required to solve problems. You’ll use the right approach to address use cases, know the data that is needed to solve the problem, and understand how to translate and present the result so that it can be easily understood by everyone involved.  



Specific responsibilities will include: 

  • Regularly updating your knowledge by reading contents online and reading relevant books on trends in data science 
  • Understanding the education domain and knowing what business problems we are trying to solve 
  • Enabling the business to make decisions by arming them with quantified insights in addition to understanding the needs of their non-technical colleagues to wrangle the data appropriately; knowing how to create a storyline around the data to make it easy for anyone to understand 
  • Providing analytics-based insights to help the marketing team optimize marketing spends 
  • Implementing customer projects and internal product roadmap projects on Data Science 
  • Identifying the data analytics problems that offer the greatest opportunities to the organization 
  • Collecting large sets of structured and unstructured data from disparate sources 
  • Cleaning and validating the data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and uniformity 
  • Devising and applying models and algorithms to mine the stores of big data 
  • Analyzing the data to identify patterns and trends 
  • Interpreting the data to discover solutions and opportunities 
  • Communicating findings to stakeholders using visualization and other means 
  • Developing processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy 



The Candidate: 

Required skills/qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning techniques (I.e. linear models, kernels, ensembles, regularization, dimensionality reduction, data mining, and clustering) 
  • Hands-on experience in Big Data querying 
  • Programming skills using SQL and Python 
  • Basic knowledge of RDBMS concepts
  • Some experience working on Prediction/Prescriptive analytics/Forecasting algorithm 
  • Ability to deliver products in a timely manner with high quality 
  • Familiarity with multiple software development practices and tools and the proven ability to adapt, champion, and institute good practices and tools 
  • Ability to visualize data with the aid of data visualization tools such as ggplot, d3.js, Matplottlib, and Tableau 
  • Self-motivated and self-directed abilities to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with time critical deadlines 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above



Preferred skills/qualifications: 

  • Extensive knowledge of statistics 
  • Experience designing and solving Data Science related to real-world problems related to the education sector
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with Spark/PySpark or similar big data framework
  • Advanced machine learning skills
