Blackboard’s Information Technology Security Program leads the engineering and operation of technology to monitor and enhance confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all corporate information systems and products. This team is a core part of Blackboard, providing it substantial opportunities to influence the overall corporate mission.


As Associate Security Engineer, you will develop a solid understanding of application security concepts, testing and tooling, the OWASP Top 10 Most Critical Web Application Security Risks, and hands-on testing. You will provide recommendations on countermeasures/fixes to application coding security flaws.



The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Experience with application security testing via manual penetration testing, SAST and DAST
  • Ability to read/analyze code to verify security bugs as true or false positives
  • Experience tuning security tools to eliminate false positives based on existing countermeasures (teach the tools)


Preferred skills

  • Scripting and automation skills
  • Full SDLC experience (requirements reviews, design reviews, code reviews)
  • Experience with cloud, REST APIs, JSON, Node.JS, jQuery, traditional Java web applications and the ability to pick up on new technologies and skills quickly
