Business Development Manager
Description
BKF Engineers is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team as part of the integrated marketing and business development department. This full-time position will be based in our Sacramento office and will report to the Regional Business Development Director. The focus of this position will be to help carry out our Regional Business Development Plans and support other regions on the West Coast.
The ideal candidate is a strong contributor to business plan creation and implementation, by identifying trends and growth areas in the market, and how to best strategically position BKF, interpreting historical data, identifying target clients, keeping groups/leaders on target, providing research, etc. Researches, interprets, and shares market intelligence, including specific client research.
BKF Engineers is a leading civil engineering, surveying and grant writing firm in California and Oregon with over 450 employees in 16 offices, specializing in transportation, water, healthcare, mixed-use, residential, education, commercial, high-tech, civic and public agency projects.
Business Development Responsibilities
- Initiate, develop and track contacts with new and existing clients, identify key decision makers, introduce Company capabilities and identify potential opportunities
- Regularly/Weekly attend industry networking events and actively participate in related organizations
- Identify, arrange and attend prospective client meetings (in-person, weekly)
- Requires firm-wide travel and attendance at after-hour client events
- Set up and develop teaming arrangements with architects, contractors, owners and other design firms
- Identify potential projects through lead agencies, networking, and budgets
- Organize BKF sponsorships to client/professional organization events in Northern California
- Maintain and organize Deltek Vision and Hubspot CRM database with project, client and lead information
- Provide research to support strategic business development directions
- Actively communicate and collaborate with the internal Marketing & BD Team
- Plan, prepare, and execute annual Business Development Budgets and Plans
- Collaborates with Leadership on pipeline management, including ensuring data accuracy
- Maintains active social media presence representative of BKF and its culture
- Ability to prepare marketing collateral and guide proposal efforts in region
- Interview coaching and preparation
- Mentor and train Marketing/BD team members
Ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience within an A/E/C firm
- Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Comparable Degree
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Active in industry organizations
- Self-reliant, creative problem solver, results-oriented
- Previous experience in business development activity
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline driven office
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to client/prospective client sites and other locations (conferences, etc.) where business development opportunities exist (depends on assignment).
- Strong organization skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Deltek Vision and Hubspot experience a plus

Pay:
The typical base salary range for this position is $100,000- $142,000 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid biweekly.
