The Role

 

The Director of Marketing is a strategic role, responsible for growing the revenue and brand equity (loyalty, awareness, association and perceived quality) of BSD and its companies. This individual will develop and oversee execution of marketing, sales, and branding strategies for BSD services and programs directed at internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of energy and passion for marketing and promoting BSD's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Successful development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans for marketing,
  • advertising, and sales.
  • Effective management of sales and marketing policies and procedures.
  • Enhanced transit benefit programs and supportive sales agreements.
  • Efficient management of agency resources, resulting in accurate budgeting, revenue forecasting,
  • and ROI tracking.
  • Effective brand hierarchy, corporate identity, and target market identification.
  • Maximized sales opportunities through data analysis.
  • Motivated and goal-oriented marketing, sales, and graphic design teams.
  • Improved transit experience and increased ridership through effective rider information and
  • way-finding design.
  • Resolved customer concerns related to sales, marketing, and partnerships.
  • Active participation in transit tradeshows and special events.
  • Excellence in in-house graphics operations to meet internal customer needs and maintain brand
  • standards.
  • Strong business relationships within Metro Transit’s markets and with regional partners.
  • Cohesive messaging with other BSD enterprises.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual and long-range strategic and tactical plans for marketing, engagement, advertising, and sales.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing policies and procedures.
  • Direct the Transit Benefit Program and develop/support sales agreements with educational institutions and other third-party vendors.
  • Assist the VP MarCom in managing organization resources, including budgeting, revenue forecasting, and tracking return on investment (ROI).
  • Drive the successful implementation of brand hierarchy, corporate identity, and target market identification for BSD and its companies.
  • Analyze data to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Supervise marketing, sales, and graphic design professionals, providing proper staffing, goals, direction, and motivation.
  • Collaborate in the development and execution of clear customer information design and wayfinding design to improve the transit experience and increase ridership.
  • Accompany sales and marketing staff on significant sales, marketing, and outreach opportunities.
  • Resolve customer concerns pertaining to sales, marketing, and partnership projects.
  • Coordinate with Engagement on in transit engagement and special event opportunities.
  • Ensure excellence and efficiency in the operations of the in-house graphics function to meet internal customer needs and maintain brand standards.
  • Develop new and nurture existing business relationships within Metro’s public transit markets, including employers, educational institutions, retail/restaurants, lodging, and government.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with other relevant partners in the region, such as media companies, external marketing agency resources, transit advertising vendors, professional sports teams, special event planners, economic development interests, and others.
  • Work closely with BSD’s other enterprises to ensure cohesive messaging with our tourism,
    aeronautical, freight and logistics related businesses.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated track record in marketing, engagement, and sales strategies.
  • Strategic thinker who is outcome-oriented, creative, dynamic, and flexible.
  • High level of knowledge and experience in brand development, advertising development, media purchasing and mix management, customer research, engagement, POS strategies, outside sales, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and leading others in carrying out marketing and sales plans and objectives.
  • Ability to develop budgets, review financial data, and meet established financial objectives.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work with professionals in other departments to understand their needs and help them meet their marketing and sales-related objectives.
  • Proven ability to bring fresh ideas, motivate a team, manage time effectively, make sound judgments, and make effective decisions based on gathered information.
  • High energy and passion for marketing and selling BSD's products and services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, peers, customers, and others.
  • Familiarity with public transit, community engagement, customer product launches, marketing, and sales in the public sector is preferred.

Experience

Degree: BA/BS required
