Senior Cost Accountant

We are looking to add an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to our growing team. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing the key drivers for cost in our organization. They should expect to work closely with the finance and accounting team and other departments and will be responsible for analysis and explanations on all operational and manufacturing costs and efficiencies during the month close and other reporting processes including forecasting, budgeting, capital investments and cost savings.
As the Senior Cost Accountant, you will:
Analyze material, material burden, direct labor, indirect labor, variable/fixed manufacturing
overhead, and all other costs
Determine standard costs/rates/percentages for raw materials, material burden, direct labor and costs
Analyze standard cost variances, working with key plant personnel to understand cost overruns and help develop dynamic solutions in response
Responsible for inventory accounting
Assist in annual budget preparation as a very active participant, offering key recommendations and insight
Track product sales and margin, worked/earned labor hours, labor and overhead spend, cost saving project spend, and many more critical KPIs
Develop quarterly forecasts based on sales targets, headcount plans, the impact of cost savings projects, and discussions with key stakeholders
Reconcile accounts and prepare/approve journal entries monthly related to CoGS, inventory, E&O, freight, and others, as assigned
Prepare the excess and obsolete (E&O) model quarterly, work with Operations to review, and adjust reserve accordingly
Analyze period results including giving presentations to plant personnel monthly and divisional management quarterly
Support internal/external audit including preparing audit schedules, participating in control, walkthroughs, etc.

As the Senior Cost Accountant, your background should include:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other Business discipline OR equivalent accounting work experience
4 or more years of experience in cost accounting with evident incremental advancement of responsibilities/capabilities over time.
Advanced Excel skills (SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, advanced Pivot Tables/Charts, basic or advanced Charts, Macros a plus, etc.)
Able to communicate clearly and confidently in verbal, written, and presentation (PowerPoint) capacities.
