BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

SUMMARY 
The Technical Manager, Implementation Readiness Program, reporting to the Director, Systems Implementation, is pivotal in supporting and driving the operational readiness program for Novato. This role ensures effective planning, execution, and delivery of business implementation projects by developing comprehensive operational readiness plans, leading cross-functional collaboration, and utilizing project management methodologies. The Technical Manager proactively manages risks, engages stakeholders, oversees resource allocation, and implements change management strategies to facilitate user adoption of new processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Planning and Execution:
  • Develop comprehensive operational readiness plans that outline scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in alignment with the overall business strategy. Use tools like Microsoft Project to create Gantt charts that visually represent the operational schedule and help track progress.
  • Lead the execution of the operational readiness plan, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed in accordance with deadlines and quality expectations.

Team Leadership
:
  • Ability to influence and lead within a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment, with strong ability to partner cross-functionally. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, address challenges, and solicit feedback to improve team performance.
  • Act as a facilitator for conflict resolution, ensuring that team dynamics remain positive and focused on operational goals.
  • Oversee the operational resources, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
 
Risk Management:
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that potential issues are addressed before they are escalated.
  • Develop and maintain a risk register, updating it regularly and communicating risks to stakeholders as necessary.
  • Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges and ensure business continuity.  
 

Stakeholder Communication:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment on operational goals and expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and concise status reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and next steps to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Organize and lead regular stakeholder meetings, providing updates and gathering input to drive operational success.

Training and Change Management:
  • Work with relevant leaders to develop and implement change management strategies that facilitate user adoption of new operational processes.
  • Coordinate training sessions for end-users, ensuring they are well-equipped to utilize new systems and processes effectively.
  • Gather feedback from users post-training to enhance training materials and support processes.
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in enterprise systems. 
  • Strong understanding of ERP modules, and functionalities, with experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry being a significant advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams or related projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.

Other:  
  • Hybrid. This role requires to be onsite once a week. Additional days as needed per business needs (i.e., Management review, design sessions, training, etc.).
