SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Our team, Internal Audit, is committed to helping BioMarin achieve its full potential in transforming patient’s lives by minimizing overall company risk. We assess all aspects of the company from Research and Development to Manufacturing, commercialization, and beyond.

JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
The Internal Audit team has an opening for a summer intern to work on an audit as well as learn about and enhance our internal operating processes which often focus on identifying fraud, waste, abuse and non-compliance in our operations.
As part of the internship, you will learn the standard practices Internal Audit uses during an audit, including:
· Rapidly understand the operational environment and key players;
· Understand and evaluate processes and risk reduction mechanisms;
· Conduct testing to evaluate risk control efficacy; and
· Document findings in an accessible, understandable, and repeatable fashion.
The summer intern will also be asked to help us review how we operate and assist the larger Internal Audit team with:
· Document potential changes to make the team more effective and efficient.
· Develop new or enhance existing operational models (how the team works); and
· Implement changes in our team’s workflow software.
The summer intern will work closely with a Director in Internal Audit and will have the opportunity to learn about the various activities our team conducts. As Internal Audit is at the cross-roads of the company, the summer intern will also learn about the various functions and how they work together.
Our internship role is a good fit for someone who is curious, process-minded, and interested in learning about a variety of different aspects of our BioMarin business.
This internship role will be remote, with the option of a hybrid presence for local candidates.
Required Skills:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
· Demonstrated professionalism and strong verbal communication skills
· Ability to work with a variety of personalities and working styles
· Ability to organize projects and work responsibilities, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Desired Skills:
· Spanish language proficiency (reading)
Qualifications/Eligibility:
- Preference for (but not limited to) those pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Sciences, Business Administration
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program.
- Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles. Some positions will be open to remote interns, but employee must be within United States borders.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 21 to $25 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
