About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
This role reports into Technical Manager, Demand Planning in Global Supply Chain organization. This department works in a multi-site production environment and plays a key role in interfacing with BioMarin’s Commercial team for Forecasting and Demand Management. The purpose of this department is to improve the processes, systems, tools and capabilities within the organization pertaining to Sales and Operations Planning, Demand Planning & Scenario Planning. This department is instrumental in connecting Commercial and Operational organizations, influencing with relationship, data, and facts to drive business decisions that best balance service, cost and cash.
JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
This role supports Demand Planning in understanding demand dataset, proposing product segmentation, devising appropriate forecast targets, developing a process/ tool to drive sustained forecast accuracy improvement and brings focus to areas that require execution alignment and potential changes in fulfilment strategy within supply chain.
Current forecasting process lacks an appropriate segmentation, resulting in a uniform approach across the portfolio. This role will drive the development and implementation of a formalized exception management protocol for Demand Review which help drive man plans that are properly assessed according to the characteristics of products and markets.
- SKU Categorization & Statistical Baseline: Implement a SKU segmentation approach and a statistical baseline as an input to the forecasting process based on the results of BioMarin’s forecast assessment.
- Lead the development, roll-up and communication of the forecast segmentation tool and process by balancing interests of customer and functional teams.
- Responsible for providing un-biased recommendations in regard to market segmentation and accuracy targets with demand planning and commercial forecasting team in assessing and understanding the country dynamics and historical performances
- Prepare, present, and analyze outlook projections to both GSC and Commercial forecasting organizations
- Support in driving leadership planning awareness, training and change management.
- Identify, track, and maintain relevant, effective performance metrics related to Forecast segmentation and monitor progress of improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and SAP team in updating S&OP Playbook
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Eligibility:
- Master’s candidate majoring in supply chain with data science, statistics, or engineering training or background
- Must be available to work full time, 40 hours a week.
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program
- Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles. Some positions will be open to remote interns, but employee must be within United States boarders.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 25 to $30 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
