About Commercial
Our Commercial organization leads our global sales and marketing strategies around the world. Our integrated team continues to solidify BioMarin’s commercial presence in the United States and Europe and is rapidly growing in other regions, such as Latin America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
- Works collaboratively within an account team, moving cases from referral to specialty pharmacy/wholesaler/Clinic shipment to product start
- Works closely with clinics and paients in assigned geography along with BioMarin RareConnections (RC) personnel to ensure timely initiation of BioMarin therapy and adherence-related activities for patients enrolled in BioMarin RareConnections
- Secure written or electronic HIPAA consent for patients in the assigned geography
- Conducts ongoing education on disease and product administration technique to support safe and appropriate use of therapy at the patient/caregiver and clinic/infusion site level
- Educate the patient on BioMarin approved product coverage based on their benefits and the steps needed to gain prior authorization to ensure understanding of the process for medication access
- Partner with FRMs to Investigate access challenges pre and post-infusion and liaise with the providers and patients as needed to resolve issues.
- Coordinate with SP’s Nursing teams on securing nursing support for ongoing home infusion therapy
- Partner with Safety and PV and report AE’s and product complaints through medical information.
- Adhere to professional standards compliance guidance, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
- Influence beyond their own geography and regular contributor to the advancement of cross functional teams
- Generation and communication of best practices and involvement in projects and initiatives that help shape strategy and implementation
- Uncovers obstacles and trends and create solutions that are widely adopted
- Contributes to regional and national assignments such as HUB training, Specialty Pharmacy education, field training, advocacy group alliance liaison, etc.
- Regularly takes on formal and informal peer leadership opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Advances patients’ health journey through exceptional motivational interviewing and positive outcomes.
- Strong presentation skills. Ability to provide dynamic and engaging presentations to small and large groups

- Action oriented, tenacious, and anticipating obstacles and leading solutions
- High business acumen and focused on customized value to all levels of customer (internal and external)
- Adaptability, consistently picking up on the need to change personal, interpersonal, and leadership behavior quickly
- Expert navigation of all systems and can align resources to action plans
- Requires travel, minimum of 50% travel
- 6+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a patient educator
- Education as an allied health care professional preferably BSN or advanced practitioner
- Prior sales experience desired
- Experience working in a team environment and manage communications with cross functional partners
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to conduct field travel and travel to company meetings, patient homes, infusion sites and clinics. Estimated at 50%
- Successful background check
- Valid Driver’s license and driving record
