Vice President, Business Development Transactions 
 
Core Focus: The Vice President of Business Development Transactions will oversee financial analysis, deal design, transaction structure, and deal valuation for the company's business development initiatives. This role focuses on supporting acquisitions, partnerships, and investments with financial expertise, working closely with the finance and business development teams to ensure every deal aligns with the company's financial objectives and maximizes shareholder value.  The ideal candidate brings deep experience in biotechnology and a strong background in corporate finance, strategic analysis and deal making within the life sciences sector. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Financial Analysis and Valuation:
  • Lead the financial assessment and valuation of potential mergers, acquisitions, licensing deals, and business opportunities focused on technologies or medicines that address genetically defined conditions.
  • Develop financial models to forecast returns, assess risks, and support data-driven decision making in high-stakes transactions.
Transaction Structuring:
  • Lead transaction design, negotiations, and deal signing, including deal terms, payment structures, and financial contingencies, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to manage due diligence processes and ensure contractual compliance.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Work closely with the CFO and finance team to ensure alignment of business development activities with the company's overall financial strategy. 
  • Communicate transaction progress, risks, and impacts to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
Market and Competitive Intelligence:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, valuation benchmarks, and the competitive landscape to inform transaction strategies and decisions. 
  • Provide insights into financial impacts of market changes and ensure the company's transactions remain aligned with industry best practices.
Key Outcomes: 
  • High impact valuations: Deliver accurate, insightful valuations that guide 100% of business development transactions, leading to data-driven decisions.
  • Transaction Success Rate: Lead or advise on transactions that meet or exceed financial performance expectations with an aim of multiple deals per year.
  • Optimized Financial Structures: Design financial structures that optimize cash flow, mitigate risk, and ensure long term financial sustainability for each transaction.
  • Industry Benchmarking: Implement continuous competitive analysis to maintain top tier valuation practices and benchmarking aligned with the evolving biotech market.
 
Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 15 years in Finance, Corporate Development or M&A within biotech or pharmaceuticals.
  • Proven Track Record of valuation, financial modeling and executing complex transactions in life sciences sector; including mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances.
  • Advance degree in Finance, Business, Life Sciences or a related field (MBA, CFA or CPA preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both finance and business development teams.
