Job Summary

Participates in modeling and detailing projects of moderate complexity. Creates detailed drawings, intermediate 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using 3D CAD Software tools (SolidWorks).

This electrical drafter prepares technical drawings for electrical wiring systems.

This electrical drafter creates detailed schematics and pneumatic 2D drawings using CAD Software tools (Pro-panel, EPlan or Altium).

This electrical drafter works within a project team under the leadership of a more experienced individual (e.g. electrical drafter, engineers, technicians and/or project managers).

Applies their knowledge of engineering to illustrate visual instructions that relate technical specifications.

Expected to work and communicate well with other team members and leadership as assigned to meet the goals of the project, the department, and the company.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.

Create accurate, detailed plans for electrical systems using computer-aided design programs (SolidWorks, SW electrical, EPlan, ProPanel, and/or Altuim) to convert specifications and design information from engineers into schematics.

Draft working drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring connection specifications as required for instructions from engineer to operations.

Collect and combine rough sketches and initial design ideas from engineers into technical drafts for further study and review by higher level Electrical drafters, engineers, and project managers.

Utilizes engineering concepts, company SOPs/WIDs, department SOPs/WIDs, and other sources to find additional data to assist in a variety of technical tasks.

Communicate with internal customers and team members regarding project scope, change requests and milestone completions.

Mentor less experienced electrical drafters.

Works effectively in a cross-functional environment offering any assistance necessary to complete the end product.

Monitor schedule constraints on all work. Complete assignments on time and on schedule.

Maintains sets of drawings, drawing changes, and reports for projects as assigned.

Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service.

Must be comfortable receiving feedback and making adjustments to projects in real time.

Makes technical decisions subject to review by other higher level electrical drafters, technicians and engineers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Supplemental Data

Travel: minimal travel required.

Team: Supports and works on a team with several engineers and a project manager.

 

Qualifications

Training and Education

Drafter level 2 or 3- Associate degree in Drafting or related technical field required.

 

Experience

Drafter Level 2

Minimum two years of drafting experience or drafting-related role, including performance consistent with said experience.

Knowledge, special skills and/or abilities preferred to perform the job functions

Experience with EPlan and ProPanel Electrical

 

Drafter level 3

Minimum seven years of experience in drafting or related drafting role, including performance consistent with said experience.

Minimum time and type experience preferred for this position.

Preferred Experience with EPlan and ProPanel Electrical

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate ability to identify problems, make recommendations and work effectively in a team environment to resolve them, considering the impact on the rest of the company.

Ability to respond in a flexible manner and to reprioritize work as the situation demands.

Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to create technical drawings under the direction of Engineers

Proficiency of the function and operation of SolidWorks, SW Electrical, EPlan Electric, Pro-Panel and/or Altium.

Proficiency of electrical nomenclature and conventional symbols of electrical, mechanical and engineering drawings and how to incorporate into highly complex drawings.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other drafters as well as other department personnel.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.

Ability to positively receive and incorporate feedback and constructive criticism.

 

Physical Requirements

Able to safely lift 50 lbs.
