WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

 

Position Summary: The SVP of Medical Sciences is a key global leadership role requiring expertise in infectious diseases, laboratory medicine, clinical practice, and IVD. This position collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute a strategic evidence and communication plan, demonstrating the clinical value of bioMérieux products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement evidence generation and communication strategies
    • Lead and mentor the Medical Sciences team to ensure the successful execution of projects.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate scientific insights into business strategies. Align scientific efforts with company goals to maximize public health impact.

 

  1. Scientific Exchange:
    • Guide strategic objectives for evidence generation and data communication.
    • Establish and maintain partnerships with external thought leaders and leading institutions, as well as cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Maintain external visibility as a respected participant in the scientific process by contributing to the advancement of science.
  2. External Insights:
    • Design advisory boards and other activities to gather stakeholder feedback.
    • Oversee evidence generation to meet diverse stakeholder needs.

 

  1. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Foster relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and industry partners and guideline associations.
    • Represent the company at scientific conferences, regulatory meetings, and industry events.
    • Communicate scientific advancements and product developments to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Promote evidence-based adoption of bioMérieux products globally.
    • Provide medical, scientific, and clinical expertise to various partners.
    • Maintain relationships with external medical/scientific leaders.
    • Build collaborations with academic and clinical experts

 

  1. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and empower the Medical Sciences team to develop comprehensive evidence plans as well as to execute on clinical studies with the goal of proving the clinical value of bioMérieux products to a number of different external stakeholders
    • Coach and mentor team members, fostering growth and development.
    • Create a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
    • Foster a high-performance culture focused on results
  2. Compliance and Integrity:
    • Adhere to policies, regulations, and codes of conduct.
    • Manage budgets and monitor financial performance.
  3. Continuous Improvement:
    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of scientific and market landscapes.
    • Engage with outside collaborators for new evidence generation opportunities
  4. Public Health Impact:
    • Align scientific efforts with the company’s strategy to maximize public health impact.
    • Identify and address emerging public health needs through innovative diagnostic solutions.
    • Advocate for the role of diagnostics in improving public health outcomes.
  5. And all other duties as assigned

 

WHO ARE YOU?

Education, Skills, Experience:

  • MD, PhD or combined MD/PhD degrees with 15+ years of clinical and translational research experience, ideally in Laboratory Medicine with Clinical Microbiology experience or Internal Medicine with Infectious Disease experience. Progressive leadership responsibilities
  • International recognition with publication track record as an expert in relevant field (infectious diseases, microbiology, laboratory medicine, diagnostics)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and engaging international/cross-cultural teams
  • Proven track record of having effectively prioritized and led transformational change in a complex, large-scale matrix organization
  • Strong communication skills to effectively connect with the scientific audience as well as the ability to explain complex medical issues simply to a general audience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability work with a wide variety of people (physicians, laboratory staff, marketing representatives, etc.) that will enable and maintain effective relationships with key external opinion leaders/consultants to provide scientific support to the company’s business initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpretation, summarization and presentation of scientific data required
  • Demonstrated expertise in scientific writing (e.g. published manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, scientific books/book chapters)
  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovative solutions.
  • Commitment to improving public health through scientific advancements.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and a servant leadership mindset are important requirements

 

Travel Requirements: Domestic and international travel required - up to 25-40%
