R&D Research Technician Co-op

Position Summary
The Research Technician Co-Op will work under the supervision of a Research Scientist to perform molecular biology and microbiology tasks in a time-efficient manner. The individual will have the opportunity to design and independently execute experiments and contribute to the development of novel diagnostic assays.
Primary Duties
- General laboratory tasks, including PCR master mix production, ordering, media preparation, autoclaving materials, and processing glassware.
- Bring equipment facilities issues to the attention of the manager for reolution
- Comply with safety requirements, cGMP, SOP and manufacturing documentation
- Keep a detailed laboratory notebook documenting experimental goals, results, and conclusions.
- Clean production equipment or work areas
- Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education, Training and Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline
- No previous experience required
Preferred Education, Training and Experience
Experience performing routine molecular biology techniques, including PCR and gel electrophoresis
Experience working with bacteria and/or yeast using aseptic techniques

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in stationary position, either sitting or standing, for prolonged periods.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.
Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
Ability to operate heavy machinery.
Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
This position requires sitting and standing and is based in a laboratory setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
