Software Support Engineer I
Description
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Thursday–Sunday and every other Wednesday.
After one month of onsite training, the role transitions to an every-other-week onsite schedule.
Software support engineers support end-users who use internally developed client- and web-based scientific and business software. They are expected to understand bioMerieux’s core technology, business, and the enterprise systems that enable them. Support engineers are expected to respond quickly to reported problems and troubleshoot issues to provide solutions, corrections, workarounds, or training as appropriate. They should work efficiently with the development and test engineering groups to support the development of software that meets end-user’s needs and to resolve software issues identified by end-users.
Primary Duties
- Support the end users of bioMerieux's internal software products through troubleshooting and resolution skills.
- Understand applicable enterprise systems used by bioMerieux.
- Understand company core technologies.
- Communicate and collaborate inside of and across departments.
- Participate effectively in end-users’ discussions related to software improvement.
- Work with peers to share skills and solve problems.
- Foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
- Create/edit knowledge base articles related to common issues.
- Continually update technical knowledge and skills.
- Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of the company's Quality System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor degree required in Computer Science or Information Technology with no experience.
- OR HS Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience in a supporting role for manufacturing, software, or information technology environment
Preferred Education, Training and Experience
- Experience in supporting role for manufacturing, software or information technology environment.
- Experience with SQL
