Sales Engineer

As a Big Ass Fans (BAF) Sales Engineer, you'll be the go-to technical hero of our Sales Team and customers. You'll jump in with expert guidance on products and applications, making sure every solution is not just effective, but safe, smart, and seamless.
From on-site technical wizardry and data analysis to crafting and presenting polished technical presentations, you'll be the voice of engineering in know-how throughout the entire sales cycle.

- Support all BAF sales and project management teams with expert-level technical product and application knowledge.
- Develop application-specific product and design recommendations for HVLS fans and other BAF products using AutoCAD and CFD software packages.
- Provide advanced application services such as energy modeling, advanced on-site data collection, or application data analysis to provide technical guidance and data-driven solutions to high-value customers. Summarize findings and recommendations in written technical reports.
- Identify, scope, and execute opportunities for research and development of fan (and other BAF product) applications.
- Design measurement and validation studies with practical and meaningful test plans, data analysis, and actionable results.
- Present technical information and findings to a wide customer audience range - from the layman to career academics.
- Assist the department in creating and maintaining sales support documentation and tools.
- Collaborate with other BAF engineering and product management teams to provide NPI support as needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the development of clear and concise engineering drawing notation and documentation as well as the ability to interpret technical drawings or technical RFP/RFQ documents from customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Field (ME, EE, CE, or BSE preferred)
- Familiarity with the following areas is a plus:
- CFD software and results interpretation
- Building energy-saving models and sustainability efforts
- Mechanical and electrical building systems
- Professional construction/design documentation
- Experience with CAD (AutoCAD/Revit)
- Experience using a CRM (Salesforce preferred) is a plus but not required
- Self-starter who is a driven and success-oriented individual, with a willingness to learn and a professional approach to work
- Exemplary technical communication skills; Proven ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in a professional manner
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills
- Available for travel up to 25%
- Completing fan applications training and FANdamentals onboarding
- Completing SpecLab modeling and site visit exercises on-site at BAF
- Shadowing other peers to learn best practices and processes they will use in their role
- Shadowing cross-departmental roles related to sales engineering for better context on BAF's sales approach
- Independently completing a fan layout recommendation for a customer project
In the first 60 days, you'll strive to become a BAF applications expert! You will do so by:
- Completing 20-40 engineered application projects to gain exposure to many different types of product applications and build their intuition for fan layout design
- Gaining independence in the peer review process by demonstrating consistently quality designs with detailed technical notes
- Shadowing a Sales Engineer and/or sales rep on a site visit
- Competing at least 2 projects with a sales engineering qualifying touch (presentations, site visits, in-situ testing/case studies, etc).
- Our First Chat: You'll be speaking with a BAF Recruiter! Here, you'll discuss the opportunity more in-depth, and talk through any questions you have.
- Hiring Manager Interview: This will be a virtual interview with our Sales Engineering Manager, and you'll go through all of the in-depth details of the position, day-to-day operations and learn about the expectations of the role.
- The Onsite Interview: As a final step, you'll come onsite for an in-person interview to meet with the hiring manager face-to-face! There may be some additional members who will join the discussions.
