Our interns don't run errands - they're here to make a real impact at the company!  As a BAF Manufacturing Software & Control Systems Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of the Big Ass Fans Operations team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on software and controls that play a large role in our manufacturing efficiency, quality and communication! In your first week, you'll dive into an exciting project you'll work on throughout your internship. At the end, you'll get to present your findings and recommendations to BAF executives. We'll provide a supportive, fast-paced environment focused on learning; you bring your attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.

Responsibilities
  • Develop desktop software for production use.
  • Integrate desktop software applications with PLCs, I/O modules, custom PCBAs, and other hardware.
  • Design and build control panels for industrial automation and test equipment.
  • Design and build custom PCBAs for industrial automation and test equipment.
  • Troubleshooting industrial automation and test equipment.


Requirements

  • Must be a current junior or senior enrolled in engineering coursework leading to an Industrial or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering degree, Software Engineering degree, or an Advanced Manufacturing Technical Program
  • Programming experience (primarily with Java). Other languages will be considered as well (Javascript, C++, C#, Python, etc.)
  • Familiar with PCBAs and MCU programming (Arduino)
  • Familiar with PLCs and industrial automation controls/circuitry
  • Solidworks experience
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks and complete work on schedule with minimal supervision
  • Able to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
