Product Glendale, California

Position Overview

Beyond Limits is seeking a Product Designer to create hybrid AI experiences out of our Glendale, CA office location. You will work closely with other design professionals and our cross-disciplinary team of data scientists, developers, and product managers to deliver Beyond Limit’s Hybrid-AI platform to market in a variety of industrial domains. You’ll be leading the design and vision for a new set of platform capabilities that blend the best of machine learning systems with human intelligence.

The Product Design Lead is responsible for realizing designs that help Beyond Limits customers blend the best of human capabilities and computing technology into a scalable and sustainable platform for launching next generation industrial applications. While this role will touch most aspects of the design process, it will be especially focused on collaboration in four areas:

  • Receiving input from UX Researchers who are defining areas of inquiry and the associated methods of information gathering. In this relationship, the Product Designer should take special interest during the synthesis of research and translation of those findings into potential product direction(s). As product and feature concepts are created, this partnership will continue into creating test materials, evaluating success with identified users, and iterating on designs.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate findings from customer discovery into mock-ups and product designs that align with the product roadmap and schedule. Understand business goals and metrics for success while aligning design concepts to achieve those goals. They will lend visualization and storytelling skills to assist communicating and receiving feedback on functionality to refine and popularize the product direction.
  • The Product Designer must complement our development team by constructing feasible yet compelling product designs. Partnering with the Engineering Manager, the designer will work alongside the development team in scrum, ceremonies, and assuring experience quality and user value in each software delivery. The Designer will advocate for user goals and product consistency while balancing the need for delivery and receiving additional user feedback.
  • Finally, and most importantly, the Product Designer must work closely with our data science team to bring the power of artificial intelligence to operators, technicians, and other industry professionals. This role will design and detail models to harvest both human knowledge and machine data into an ever evolving and highly usable AI system. This collaboration between design and data science will surface key user decisions and the opportunities to empower people with computing intelligence.
In addition to these collaborations, the Product Designer will generate materials that convey the user’s product journey with supporting interactions and interfaces. It is expected that the Designer can work in progressively greater detail as required by the altitude of design exploration. These mediums include whiteboard, sketches, concept diagrams, storyboards, information architectures, wireframes, high-fidelity mock-ups and interactive prototypes. Regardless of fidelity, the work will always be presented professionally and represent the rigor and quality expected in Beyond Limits product design. The Product Designer should be open to receiving feedback and evolving their work in a candid and transparent manner. The Designer must consider opportunities to reuse design patterns and draw from established work from the Beyond Limits Design System.
