About the Role

Bethany is seeking a talented clinical educator to support dementia education at the Bethany Calgary site located at 916 18A Street NW. The position will be located at Bethany Calgary, but may be required to provide support to other sites when required.  The position reports to the RAI Program and Education Manager as part of a large clinical education team. The education team and quality consultants work closely together under the leadership of the Director, Quality, Best Practices and Research. to Bethany employees.

Position Summary:

Your primary responsibility is to provide orientation for new employees and develop and deliver clinical education to Bethany employees in close collaboration with site leaders. You will also work with other Bethany Clinical Educators, policy and program leads across Bethany sites in identifying and prioritizing process improvement opportunities and supporting organizational initiatives, such as research and program development.

What You Will Do:

With a passion for care towards residents, families and team members, the Clinical Educator is accountable for practicing outstanding care and support to residents, resident families, team members and volunteers to the full scope of professional nursing practice, and to ensure that their conduct meets the standards of the profession and of Bethany Care Society to deliver resident centered care planning, implementation and evaluation.

Individual responsibilities will fall under five main areas of focus:

  1. Resident-Centered Care - : Promotes service excellence through coordinating the assessment, planning, design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of clinical education programs and policies to promote resident centered care.
  2. Documentation: Accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of education records, statistics, evaluations and reports.
  3. Safety: Contributes to a safe environment for residents, the team and self by understanding and adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times.
  4. Pro-active Learner: Demonstrates the vision and values of Bethany and lives out the mission of Creating Caring Communities.
  5. Team Work: Cares for and actively participates and assists other employees to achieve and maintain a responsible atmosphere of resident centered care.

Qualifications:
As an ideal candidate, you:

  • Are a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
  • Possess post graduate training in Adult Education or related plus three to five years of direct experience as an educator in a clinical environment (preferably with geriatric population with a focus in dementia care).
  • A combination of education and experience will also be considered. Master’s degree is preferred.  We will also consider applicants who are working towards the completion of his/her Master's degree.
  • Experience with eMAR and electronic documentation software (e.g., Point Click Care) are definite assets
  • Possess a valid CPR certificate
  • GPA or Supportive Pathways training preferred
  • Are proficient with current productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, Power point as well as experience with multimedia applications.
