Summary 

This role reports to the Manager, Material Management and is based at the corporate office located at 100, 2915 26 Avenue SE, Calgary. You will be responsible for purchasing materials, services, technical equipment, and supplies within established limits and quality, quantity, and price guidelines. Obtaining quotes for goods and services as part of the procurement decision phase and prepares purchase orders and negotiates delivery arrangements.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Procuring goods and services for Bethany Care Society
  • Perform and evaluate source solicitations including RFQ/RFP/RFI
  • Perform and analyze periodic and ad hoc procurement reports from procurement system
  • Perform cost structure analysis and negotiate best price with suppliers
  • Drive and achieve cost saving for sourcing program and purchase opportunity
  • Setup/handle/manage Standard/Customized related Contracts
  • Seek out opportunities to introduce process improvements to drive efficiency
  • Build strong, strategic supplier relationships and measure/analyze supplier performance and quality
  • Provide coverage for other Materiel Management department roles a required (i.e., when they are on vacation, sick leave, or a position is vacant)
  • Creating agreements for net new suppliers as well as managing onboarding process requirements
  • Validating if contracts are applicable to Bethany Care Society’s environment
  • Developing Scopes of Work (SOW) from the beginning by understanding the stakeholder’s requirements, supplier’s limitations and Bethany Care Society’s contractual limitations.
  • Continuous Stakeholder collaboration to discuss requirements to ensure a thorough understanding and to keep them up to date on progress
  • Stakeholders are across multiple functions medium to high complex requirements, development of complex contracts and very demanding teams
  • Providing ideas on how to simplify requirements process utilizing our systems, processes and stakeholder’s strategies
  • Supplier cadence – collaboration with stakeholder, procurement and suppliers
  • Develop effective long-term supplier relationships through supplier performance measurement, external benchmarking and continuous improvement initiatives

Education & Professional Designation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or similar
  • CSCP/CPP/CPSM or related certification preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a buyer/planner role

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert applied knowledge of forecasting, supply chain, inventory management
  • Excellent organization, communication and follow-up skills
  • Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
  • Analytical with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Prior knowledge of Procurement / Supply Chain processes
  • Strong PC Skills in Excel, Power Point, Word

Requirement:

  • On occasional basis, you will travel to other sites to offer support or to attend meetings and events as required. Valid Class 5 driver's license is preferred.
