About the Role
Bethany is seeking a talented Spiritual Care Practitioner for Bethany Didsbury, Sundre and Harvest Hills (NE Calgary).
With discernment, wisdom, compassion and a passion for the spiritual well-being of residents, families, employees and volunteers, the Spiritual Care Practitioner provides and advocates for spiritual care aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Bethany Care Society. The Spiritual Care Practitioner models and promotes respect for diversity, welcomes all people in the provision of culturally appropriate spiritual care, and provides and assists with appropriate spiritual and religious practices.
The Spiritual Care practitioner is responsible and accountable for the provision of assessments and interventions intended to support the spiritual health of the residents and families of Bethany, with special attention to support at end-of-life. At Bethany, Spiritual Care Practitioners offer or co-ordinate group events – including regular services or programs, seasonal and memorial events – that support the spiritual well-being of residents. Further, as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Spiritual Care Practitioner is expected to promote awareness and understanding of spiritual care, and co-lead the spiritual care champion teams as a means of helping all care team members develop capacity to offer spiritual care as generalists.
You are required to have access to a vehicle and able valid Driver’s License for travel between sites.
WHAT YOU BRING
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in theology, spirituality/religion, or a related field.
- Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) – completion of two advanced units, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Formal training in working with persons with dementia or Alzheimer’s is an asset
Experience
- 1-3 years clinical and administrative experience desired
- Experience working with older adults is an asset
- Experience within a multicultural environment is an asset
Additional Skills
- Active membership with CASC
- Class 4 Drivers License
- Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
- Listening skills, basic counselling skills, group facilitation, and multicultural and multi-faith experience.
- Must demonstrate an acceptable level of reading, writing, and comprehension of English language skills
- Excellent observation, communication and problem-solving skills
