You are focused on the resident experience, not task completion. You assist wherever you are needed – at mealtimes, participating in therapies, or helping your colleagues.
What You Will Do:
The Health Care Aide is accountable for providing care and support to residents, resident families and volunteers within their designated scope of practice. The Health Care Aide demonstrates responsiveness to the holistic needs of residents and flexibility in adapting to changing needs of residents by assisting with activities of daily living, promoting choices, maintaining dignity and facilitating resident independence.
Individual responsibilities will fall under five main areas of focus:
- Resident Centered Care – promotes service excellence and responsive to residents’ needs in accordance with resident care plans, policies and procedures.
- Documentation – accurately and comprehensively document and report care and related observations the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in a timely manner.
- Safety – contributes to a safe environment for residents, the team and self by understanding and adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times.
- Active Learning – role models Bethany’s vision, mission and values on a daily basis, and understands and follows all Standards of Conduct and Service Excellence.
- Team Work – works cooperatively with others as an effective team member, including participation in meal times, therapies and other resident experiences.
What You Bring:
- Government of Alberta recognized Health Care Aide certificate or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a long term care facility is preferred
- Specialized dementia training is preferred. (Supportive Pathways, Gentle Persuasive Approach, etc.)
- Excellent observation, communication and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated alignment with Bethany Riverview philosophy of care and organizational values
- Strong computer and documentation skills are required
