Position Summary:

We are currently searching for a part time Coordinator, Volunteer Services to service Bethany Airdrie. The care centre consists of 100 private designated supportive living suites, including a 25-bed neighbourhood for residents with dementia. With the support and infrastructure of Bethany Care Society’s corporate volunteer program, you will run the established volunteer program and tuck shop.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day coordination and administration of volunteers and the volunteer program at Bethany Airdrie.
  • In collaboration with centre staff, assess current and future needs and plan for volunteer engagement and recognition.
  • Recruit, select and orientate volunteers according to site demand.
  • Develop volunteer position descriptions.
  • Liaise and work with community organizations, including schools, churches, service clubs, etc. to increase awareness of the Bethany Airdrie.

Skills:

  • Ability to build and establish relationships with staff, community, residents and their families
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Highly self-motivated and community oriented
  • Superior organization and administrative skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Previous experience with volunteer management software is an asset


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2 years of volunteer coordination/ program experience.
  • Diploma and/or training in volunteer management is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience as a volunteer preferred
  • Knowledge of dementia and related issues would be an asset
