Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing the workflow and performance of the staff accountants and account payables staff in addition to monitoring the general ledger, preparing and analyzing reports, and assisting the Controller with various projects.
 
Ideal candidates for this position will be highly detail-oriented and analytical, well versed in business finances, and eager to play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.
 
Essential Functions of the Role:
  • Oversee the accounting and accounts payable teams providing guidance on accounting procedures and company policies.
  • Ensure that all accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
  • Oversee internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and answering audit queries.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial software systems.
  • Identify and suggest technology improvements for accounting processes, such as automation or integration of tools to help identify inefficiencies or risks.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reports by maintaining the general ledger and overseeing reconciliation processes.
  • Provide support in financial forecasting by analyzing trends and creating projections.
  • Support the Controller in ensuring that all tax filings and financial statements comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Experience Requirements:
  • At least seven (7) years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience in mortgage banking or financial services preferred.

 

Education/Licensing Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Public Accounting and CPA Certification preferred.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced environment.
