Position Overview:
Benchmark recognizes that doing things correctly is part of what drives a company’s success. The Post-Closing Quality Control Underwriter assists in achieving that success through their daily contribution. This position reviews mortgage loans at the post-closing stage to ensure the company’s post-closing quality control procedures are performed properly and within Benchmark standards.
Ideal candidates for this position will be highly detail-oriented, able to work independently as well as tactfully across organizational boundaries, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Review loan files for data integrity and underwriting thoroughness.
- Identify and analyze a sample of loans for post-closing quality control review to ensure critical data is evaluated according to company standards.
- Provide reports on loan analysis, data integrity, and overall loan quality.
- Identify potential investor defects and clear them to ensure salability of the loan.
- Prepare repurchase/rebuttal letter to investors as needed.
- Utilize internal and external reports to identify quality-related trends.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (RESPA, TILA, etc.)

Experience Requirements:
- At least three years mortgage quality control or underwriting experience required.
Education/Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced environment.
- Requires normal vision (corrected) both close and distant.
- Requires normal hearing levels (corrected).
- Requires working at a desk to use a phone and computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires sitting, bending.
- Works effectively with frequent interruptions.
- Lifting requirements of 10 lbs. occasionally.
- Minimal travel <5%.
