Position Overview:
Benchmark’s success is strengthened by the efficiencies in what we do. This includes everything from the origination step to preparing the physical loan file to go to the investor. The Document Custody Specialist has the opportunity to expand our efficiencies through the collection and review of a loan’s trailing docs data. This position works with multiple departments to ensure file completion and compliance prior to sending documents to investors.
 
Ideal candidates for this position will be highly detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
 
Essential Functions of the Role:
  • Review, scan, send, and monitor trailing docs for investors.
  • Place conditions on loans during file review and coordinate to obtain missing/corrected documents.
  • Create security instrument related documents and process recordings with county clerks as needed.
  • Answer internal and external questions related to trailing documents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local closing agents to ease document requests.
  • Act as a liaison between the closing agent and investor for trailing documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements:
  • One to two years mortgage experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Encompass preferred.

 

Education/Licensing Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Requires normal vision (corrected) both close and distant.
  • Requires normal hearing levels (corrected).
  • Requires working at a desk to use a phone and computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires sitting, bending.
  • Works effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Lifting requirements of 10 lbs. occasionally.
  • Minimal travel <5%.
