Description

Primary Objective:

Under general supervision, the maintainer assists in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining machine parts and other special equipment; performs work in the maintenance and repair of Garden buildings, equipment and facilities; and performs related work.

**This is position works an evening shift.  After a period of training, the incumbent will work a schedule of 4:00pm to 12:00am. 

Primary Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Perform, or supervise the performance of, responsible general maintenance work or specialized work with regard to automotive repairs, electrical wiring or fixtures, painting, glazing, stonework, woodworking, and shop work.
  • Assist in the repair of machines and other special equipment.
  • Repair and maintain heating apparatus and plumbing fixtures.
  • Keep records and prepare reports on work performed and materials used.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as directed

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years’ paid experience in building maintenance work

 Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to pass written and/or practical test
  • Possession of a motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the state of New York
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
